Anybody who knows my story knows how passionate I am about people finding balance. Most of the time there is a realisation that this is almost impossible. Some days I feel like a total hypocrite because I believe in it so passionately and yet seem to fail at it constantly.

I’ve always been about work-life-balance. That is one of the core reasons I started myUTOPIA and what my soul purpose is. New studies show that it’s not about balance it’s all about work-life integration. I read an amazing article by Arianna Huffington recently where she says

“The truth is that we bring our whole selves to work. Work and life, well-being and productivity, are not on opposite sides needing to be balanced. They are on the same side so they can rise together.”

How do we do this? Firstly we have to stop making excuses and stop apologising. If scheduling a class into our day makes us feel guilty let’s look at the flip side of that coin. We have now done a class, our feel-good” hormones are high (without having had wine), our energy levels are up and we feel better. This, in turn, ensures higher productivity and output from us whilst we are working. If scheduling 20 minutes in the oxygen pod eliminates all sorts of toxins and prevents us from getting sick then we have saved ourselves on a bunch of sick days. If a full body massage is going to relax us and ensures that we don’t feel so crabby it’s going to go a long way in helping us have healthier relationships not only with our friends and family but also our colleagues. This integration allows us not to have to choose but to benefit from it. Even plugging your laptop in whilst enjoying breakfast at Sana is giving you a different space to work in and allowing you to interact differently.

So here’s my challenge for November and I would love you all to join me. Let’s call November “Finding Me”. Let’s work on this work-life integration and see if it’s a real thing and easier to achieve than balance. Here’s the plan. I’m launching this challenge in November (I can see a star chart coming out). Let’s start the first week in November aiming to do 3 things for ourselves to start the process and each week we up it by 1 so by the last week of November we’ve scheduled 5 things in. It can be any activity within myUTOPIA, a class, lunch, a treatment. I’m going to reward you, inspire you and work with you so that we can rise to this challenge together.
